Here are real women's stories that inspire me to not let osteoporosis slow me
down. Each month, I will feature a new Bone Diva who I hope will encourage you

and carpet in her college campus office. It's the color of the sneakers she
exercises in five times a week. And, it's the color of the helmet she wore when
she raced Corvettes.
"The Pink Lady," the nickname students at Reed College have coined for Lois Hobbs, 61,
has a rosy outlook on life and its challenges.
"I have to keep moving. I'm not going to let osteoporosis slow me down - I have
too many things I need to do," said Lois, who was diagnosed with osteoporosis
three years ago. She signed up with her husband to take ballroom dancing
lessons this fall.
"I'm glad my doctor decided on a treatment that was right for me. Once I had that little pill in my hand, I felt like, "I'm finally going to do more about my osteoporosis," said Lois.
Lois, whose Portland, Oregon, home has a Marilyn Monroe-themed bathroom, is
also a car buff. Her collection includes a Lamborghini Countach but her true
love will always be "America's finest sportscar"- the Corvette. "I love the
feel of fiberglass and going fast."
Lois arrives at her job as a faculty secretary two hours early each day so that
she can lift weights, and do the rest of her exercise routine. Then there's an
hour for hair and makeup and it's time to start the work day. Wearing pink, of
course.
