Now that my mother is in her 80s and, like me, has been diagnosed with osteoporosis, I'm so glad
we can be together – even if we're only able to grab a few minutes each day to talk. That's one of the nicest things about having her living in my home. Sharing thoughts while I'm cooking dinner, talking about what's going on in our own family and in the wider world. I'm so busy with work these days that I treasure having these quiet moments with my mother.
It's also a comfort to see firsthand that she's taking care of herself and her bones. She gets regular exercise by walking her standard poodle around the property. I cook calcium-rich meals that we share, like a hearty kale soup. |

I feel good knowing that she's getting the bone-strengthening
treatment she needs.
It helps to know you are doing everything you can to keep your bones strong. Now that I've been treating my bones for a year, I worry less when I think about the outdoor activities I love. I can't wait to go snowshoeing – simply because it's so much fun.
I hope you all enjoy spending time connecting with your loved ones this Valentine's Day and throughout the coming year.
Be well and stay strong,

Look for Sally's next journal entry in March, as well as other
information on managing postmenopausal osteoporosis. Talk to your doctor about how to manage your bone health,
including diet, exercise, and treatment options.
