A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to meet with the fabulous women of the
Red Hat Society in Las Vegas.
What a sight to see all those purple outfits and amazing red hats! This is a group of women who really
know how to have fun. It was great to share my bone health story and to learn that some of the women have
a similar story to tell.
For all you Red Hats who are reading this journal for the first time, welcome! I'd love you to
share your
exciting stories with all of us here.
Later this month, I'm traveling to Seattle, Washington to attend the 2008 Northwest Flower and Garden Show,
where, in addition to finding some inspiration for my spring garden, I'm hosting a seminar about the
health benefits of gardening. The seminar will take place on Saturday, February 23, so if you are in
the area, please stop by. |

Gardening, aside from being my passion, provides so many benefits to our bones. Did you know exercises
such as swimming, walking, dancing, and gardening can help keep your bones strong? According to my doctor,
being outdoors provides us with much needed vitamin D, and activities in the garden help strengthen our
bodies—not to mention all those tasty, bone-healthy vegetables. You can pick up some more tips for
healthy bones here.
Please check back often to hear about the results and to view some of the photos from my upcoming trip.
Also, look for more exciting events we have planned throughout the year.
Be well and stay strong,

Look for Sally's next journal entry in
March, as well as other information on managing postmenopausal osteoporosis. Talk to your doctor about how to manage your bone health, including diet, exercise, and treatment options.
