I went to Capitol Hill to urge these amazing women to learn more about the importance of bone health as part of my new "Start Right, Stay Strong" Challenge. As women, we need to commit to making our bone health a priority and taking four simple steps to keep our bones strong. The steps include starting right by getting a bone mineral density (BMD) test to know your risk for fracture. Then commit to staying strong by getting adequate calcium and vitamin D, exercising regularly, and, if you are prescribed a medication by your doctor, taking it as directed.
In June, I traveled to Pinehurst, North Carolina, the home of the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open golf championship. I got the chance to have my first golf lesson! And I had the opportunity to rally women at the event to make a commitment to keep their bones healthy. |
