That has meant exploring new calcium-rich foods and supplementing them with calcium and vitamin D, and trying out new exercises to find a weight-bearing workout that fits into my life. It has also meant taking my postmenopausal osteoporosis medication as directed by my doctor.
I'm happy to say that all of my efforts are paying off, as my recent bone mineral density (BMD) test shows my bones have gotten stronger. And, while I’m proud of this accomplishment, I want to acknowledge how important you have been to my success. Journaling and knowing that my experience might motivate other women has been a very strong source of support. |

I am very excited about sticking with my journey again this year and, as we move into this second phase, I will continue to encourage you to interact with me through my monthly journals, and to share your ideas and tips for how you keep your bones healthy.
Each month, I'll share with you what my plans are to rally women together for bone health, including my trip to Washington, D.C., my first ever golf lesson at the 2007 U.S. Women's Open,* and a number of exciting events this fall. I have a busy year planned so stay tuned!
Until then, stay strong and be healthy.

Look for Sally's next journal entry in July, as well as other information on managing postmenopausal osteoporosis. Talk to your doctor about how to manage your bone health, including diet, exercise, and treatment options.
