This spring has been particularly hectic for me and I'm looking forward to some down time
and enjoying the beautiful LA weather with my family.
Especially in this warmer weather, my family and I try to spend as much time outdoors as possible.
I am so lucky to have everyone living nearby! Chasing my grandchildren, going for long walks,
having picnics, and reading on the beach are some of my favorite activities. Plus, being outside
in the sunshine has added health benefits. My doctor has provided me with some helpful tips
to make my time outdoors that much more beneficial. Being in the sunshine (without sunscreen
for up to 15 minutes) boosts our body's natural production of vitamin D, helping us absorb
calcium—which we all know is so important for our bones.
In addition to my family, one of my priorities is encouraging women across the country to take
care of their bone health. I have met many new people and shared stories of osteoporosis with
women from all walks of life over the past few months. For nearly all women, an important
motivation for staying

healthy and strong is our families. We want to continue running around with our grandkids
and taking long walks with our daughters and sons.
As the free time of summer gives us more time with our families, we have opportunities to encourage
our daughters and loved ones to start speaking
with their doctors early about things they can do now to keep their bones healthy later in life,
and to encourage our grandchildren to get enough calcium by drinking calcium-rich milk. These are the
times to share our stories and inspire others.
I too, would love to hear your stories. Share them
here at bonehealth.com and they can help motivate all of us in these coming months.
Be well, and stay strong,
