My mother has been such an influence in my life and each day, she makes me realize how important an example I am for my own children and grandchildren. I'm glad they've been able to see me stay active and manage my osteoporosis so it doesn't slow me down. They see me eat well, stick with the medicine prescribed by my doctor, and keep up a regular exercise routine.
I think children learn by the example you show them. When their parents take care of their health, they realize it's an essential part of life.
For my youngest, it's tennis. That's his passion. I'm making plans to get us to Wimbledon as soon as filming on Brothers & Sisters wraps up. I'm really looking forward to that trip after a year of hard work filming the series. |

For my oldest child and my granddaughters, it's long walks. I had so much fun with them window shopping in New York City not too long ago. We walked all over the city and took little breaks to have tea or to shop. When we're closer to home, it's just as much fun to find our way through the woods. We love to just get out there.
I hope your Mother's Day is filled with love and laughter. Don't forget that those closest to you may listen to what you say but, most importantly, they learn from what you do.
Till next time, be healthy and stay strong.

Look for Sally's next journal entry in June, as well as other information on managing postmenopausal osteoporosis. Talk to your doctor about how to manage your bone health, including diet, exercise, and treatment options.
